This is for a writing prompt in the course: Teach English Now! Listening, Speaking and Pronunciation by Arizona State University through Coursera.
In the last peer review assignment, you added some speaking techniques and strategies to your existing lesson plan. Now, you're going to make changes to your lesson plan again, this time by choosing one part of your lesson plan where you could incorporate a brief pronunciation "moment" or discussion, related to either your listening or speaking activities. You may need to delete some pre-existing exercises in order to make room for your pronunciation activity.

**the listening material to be used: https://youtu.be/r1BhsWsmjco
Lesson Objective:
Students will be able to explain difficult words that can be heard from the listening material
Students will be able to identify the characters and their characteristics through the listening activity
Students will be able to show their comprehension of the listening material by answering multiple questions about the listening material
Students will be able to create their own character introductions at the end of the class.
Warm-Activity
T will show three sentences about her on the board. Two of these sentences are true and one would be a lie. T will ask students to choose which they think is the lie. After all the students have guessed, T will reveal the answer.
After the T’s turn, T will ask students to create 3 sentences about them, two truths and one lie.
Each student will have their turn in presenting and guessing.
T will take note of the sentences that the students made to describe themselves
Objective Discussion
After the warm-up activity, T will emphasize the way they describe themselves and if they used any adjectives in the process.
T will explain that in today’s lesson, S will describe a character.
T will explain that for their guided practice they will be listening to a video and will answer questions afterwards. T will also ask students to take down the words that are unfamiliar to them.
T will explain that for their independent practice, students will be given 20 minutes to describe their own character from Ancient Rome.
To warm up into the proper lesson, T will show words that can be seen/listened to at the Listening Material. Since most of the words may be difficult to pronounce, T will make students repeat how to pronounce each word:
Instruct & Model / Guided Practice
T will model how to make a character introduction using the basic question starters. T will ask S to watch out for these phrases that answer the 5Ws and 1H. T will also explain that to make an effective introduction, students need to answer the basic question starters.
When did the character's story take place?
Where did the character's story take place?
Which characteristics do the character have?
Who is the character?
What is the character famous for?
How did he accomplish the thing the character was famous for?
T will also ask students to take down unfamiliar words for vocabulary discussion. T will present the listening material.
After listening, T will ask students to send their list of unfamiliar words.
T will give them the meaning of these words and make sure that the students understand them.
T will present the character maps of the characters in the listening material. Presenting the characteristics of each character, T will ask S to share what they feel about the characters. Each student will have his/her turn to share what he feels about one character.
Students will start with the key phrase, “This character makes me think that…”, “This character makes me feel like…”
Independent Practice
Ts will give 20 minutes to students to choose a person from Ancient Rome that the T provided and research about them, making a character introduction speech.
T will then ask students to present their works if time allows.
